Butterfly Fold Back card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. Here is one of my samples for the butterfly stamp set shows featured on Hochanda recently with Chocolate Baroque.




Note: I recently got the Tim Holtz stamping platform from Tonic Studios and I found it perfect for this project. Building the frame with the swirly stamp was so easy. Simply stamped, turned the card 90 degrees and stamped again. However, it is not essential for this project. Using an acrylic block with grid markings will help you to align the stamp with the card edge when building the frame with the swirl stamp.

Materials:
How to make it:
  1. Make a vertical score line half way across the card front and fold back.
  2. Open the card out flat and stamp the swirls around the edges with Versamark ink to frame. Use a gridded acrylic block to help align the stamp with the card edges. Also stamp the verse and small butterfly. Heat emboss with the pearl blue powder. Colour the butterfly with sparkle pen and add glitter glue dots for added sparkle.
  3. Stamp the large butterfly onto white card with Versafine. Using watercolour pens directly onto the stamp, colour the lightly spritz with water and overstamp onto the black image. This will give a watercolour effect. Add more colour with the sparkle pens. Cut out and glue to the edge of the card fold back. To make it neater you could paint the back of the white card with black acrylic.
  4. Finish with more stickles and add some Glossy Accents to some areas of the butterfly detail.

Mackintosh Beauty Tag Card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good afternoon. Here is another of my show samples for the lovely Mackintosh stamp sets from Chocolate Baroque recently shown on Hochanda.
 
Materials:
How to make it:
  1. Cut and make the large tag shaped card from black card – approx. 20 X 10.5cm.
  2. Cut a tag from stamping card to layer onto the card leaving a small border of the black card base showing. Spritz with coloured inks and edge with silver pen.
  3. Overstamp the background with floral and the decorative heart stamps.
  4. Stamp the panels onto acetate with StazOn ink and cut out. Colour some areas on the back with acrylic paints – leaving some sections clear.
  5. Add a layer of double sided sticky sheet to the back of the acetate (just the main shape – omit the little fiddly bits). I drew around the acetate onto the carrier sheet, then cut it out before sticking to the acetate. Pour glitter onto the tacky surface and press down/rub in well. Brush off excess.
  6. Stick to background mat with double sided tape – hiding it under opaque painted sections.
  7. Stamp the flower onto glitter card and cut out. Add ribbon and stick down the flower.
  8. Glue the topper to the card with foam pads for added dimension. Finish with PVA pearls.

Mackintosh Heart Card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good afternoon. Today I am sharing one of my samples for the recent shows on Hochanda with the Mackintosh stamp sets from Chocolate Baroque. Quite ‘clean and simple’ for me – but there is a bit of decoupage in there x.

Materials:
How to make it:
  1. Stamp the border approx. 8.5cm up from the card edge and emboss with silver powder. Cut along the top edge to create the card back with decorative header. The piece will measure approx. 20.5cm across and 12.5cm high.
  2. Trim the remaining card to make the card front – approx. 20.5cm wide and 8.5cm high. Allow extra card at the top edge to score a fold for gluing to the card back to make up the card.
  3. Stamp and emboss the heart and flowers for decoupage onto stamping card and cut out. After working out the placement of the heart onto the card front, stamp and emboss the floral sprig onto the card front. Colour all the images with Aqua Markers and Sparkle Pen.
  4. Glue down the elements to the card front using 3D glue gel or foam pads for added dimension. Finish with a few PVA pearls.

Quick and Easy Oriental Butterfly card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. This was one of my samples for the recent shows on Hochanda with Lesley Wharton. It is a quick and easy make.

I used a technique demonstrated on one of Lesley's shows recently. I inked up a 4 inch round gelli printing plated with Distress Ink and then lifted off some of the ink using the Big Bold Background Leafy Trails stamp, then transferred the image to stamping card. I overstamped with the butterfly and swirl from Patchwork Butterfly set using Versafine. Finally I added a little colour with a gold sparkle pen and edged the topper with black marker to frame.

Materials:
Big Bold Background Leafy Background and Patchwork Butterfly stamps
6 X 6 inch scalloped white card blank, white stamping card
Inkpads: Versafine (Black Onyx), Distress Ink (Peacock Feathers)
Alcohol marker (black) and sparkle pen (gold)
Gelli Printing Plate (4 inch circle)

Butterfly With Love card created for Chocolate Baroque



Good morning. This was one of my samples for the recent butterfly stamp shows on Hochanda with Lesley Wharton and Chocolate Baroque.


Materials:
How to make it:
  1. Create the background by partially stamping the decorative floral panel into the corners of the card using Tumbled glass Distress Ink, turning the card 90 degrees between stamping.
  2. Stamp the butterfly, sentiment and swirls with Versafine ink. Colour with sparkle brush pens and ‘doodle’ around the stamped swirls with gold brush pen.
  3. Using the fine tipped blue sparkle pen add more ‘doodling’ to the lower left hand side of the background.
  4. Edge the topper with Black Soot Distress ink and the alcohol marker. Glue to card front and add faux stitching with the fine tipped black pen.
  5. Add Stickles around the topper edge, the butterfly and over the swirls. Finish with PVA pearls.
