Quick and Easy New Horizons Scene Card

Good morning. This is a quick and easy make using the Landscape Edges and Steampunkery (sentiment) stamps from Chocolate Baroque.

1. The background paper was already in my stash and had been created using ink spritzers (purple, yellow and blue with mica), painting and splashing onto wet cartridge paper. Similar could be created with watercolours or Brushos – whatever you have in your stash.
2. The images were stamped with Versafine. The stamping was touched up with black pen where needed to intensify (note: stamping on textured paper will come out a little grainy).
3. Brown pencil was used to quickly add shadows and white charcoal (Koh-I-Noor) to add highlights.

Time Flies Steampunk Wall Hanging created for Chocolate Baroque

Good afternoon. This is the last of my recent Steampunk themed samples created for Chocolate Baroque. I made this mini wall hanging using white board and mount board shapes.

Materials:

• Steampunkery stamp set
• 10 X 15cm white board shape (Chocolate Baroque), decorative paper from Crafty Individuals (A Weekend in Seville), scrap mount board and card
• Versafine (Onyx Black), StazOn (Jet Black), Distress Ink (Antique Linen), Versamark
• WOW embossing powders (mix Silver, Verdigris and Gold Rich)
• Alcohol ink pen (black)
• Soft Form Relief Paste (Silver)
• PVA pearls (black)
• Glossy Accents
• Ribbon (black)
• Mixed media dies (Tim Holtz BigZ Clock, cogs)

How it was done:

1. The white board panel was covered with decorative paper and the border plus sentiment stamped with Versafine. The edges were inked with Distress Ink and black marker.
2. The clock stamp was coated with StazOn ink then spread with the Soft Form Relief Paste. This was left to dry overnight before peeling away and trimming to neaten.
3. The clock and cogs were cut from mount board and scrap card. The clock centre was stamped using Versafine. The centre pieces were then coloured with Distress Ink and edged with black pen.
4. The die cut cogs and clock outer were coated with Versamark and heat embossed with metallic powder mix.
5. The embellishments were glued down with foam pads and 3D glue gel for dimension. Glossy accents was added over the clock face and some of the stamped lace cogs. PVA pearls were added for extra decoration.
6. Finally a small hole was punched in the top and ribbon attached for hanging.

Steampunk Adventures card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. This was another of my samples for the recent Steampunk themed shows from Chocolate Baroque.

Materials:

• Steampunkery, Steampunk Travel and Punky Expressions stamps
• 6 X 6 inch Kraft card blank, Kraftcard scraps, 6 X 6 inch patterned paper from Crafty Individuals (Travels in Italy)
• Inkpads: Versamark, Versafine (Vintage Sepia), StazOn (Jet Black)
• Versamark Embossing Ink Pen
• Embossing powders: WOW (Clear Gloss), Ranger (Rust)
• Soft Form Relief Paste (Copper)
• Alcohol pen and fine tipped pen (dark brown)
• Watercolour pen (teal, brown)
• Koh-I-Noor white charcoal sticks
• Hairspray
• Dies (Sizzix gears)

How it was made:

1. Images were stamped with Versafine. White charcoals were used to add clouds and to add highlights to the airships. Images were further coloured with watercolour pens and a damp brush. I used a light spray with hairspray to fix the chalk and stop it from smudging. The topper was then edged with brown pen and faux stitching drawn with the fine tipped pen.
2. Embossing ink was added to the larger ship with the pen, and was heat embossed with clear powder.
3. StazOn ink was applied to the large airship stamp propellers before spreading with a layer of Soft Form Relief Paste. This was left to dry overnight before peeling away and trimming to neaten, then glued over the image.
4. Gears were cut from Kraft card, coated with Versamark ink and heat embossed with rust powder.
5. Sentiments were stamped onto scrap patterned paper, matted onto Kraft card, edged with alcohol maker and glued to the card with foam pads for dimension.

Imagination Meets Reality card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. This one is another of my recent samples for the Steampunk shows. I used Soft Form Relief Paste to create the 3D embellishment, the lovely lace with cogs stamp to create the border and stamped onto a pretty floral paper from Crafty Individuals. I thought that the sentiment ‘imagination meets reality’ was fitting.

I mounted everything onto a ‘recycled’ 8 X 8 inch card which was a previous sample that had gone badly wrong. Rather than throw it away I just covered up what was originally there. No-one would ever know – ooops I just told you – tee hee hee.

• 8 X 8 inch card blank, cartridge paper, black card for mounting, Crafty Individuals 6 X 6 Background Paper (Springtime)
• Water based inks (teal, lime)
• Inkpads: Versamark, Versafine (Onyx Black), StazOn (Jet Black), Distress Ink (Vintage Photo)
• Embossing powder (pearl)
• Soft Form Relief Paste (Copper)
• Fine tipped pen (black)
• Alcohol marker (black)
• PVA peals (black)
• Shaving foam and shallow tray

How it was done:

1. The background paper on my ‘recycled’ card was created using the shaving foam technique. This is a fun method for making pretty marble effect papers. Shaving foam is spread onto a shallow tray and inks dropped onto the surface. Paper is then lowered onto the surface to pick up the ink. Versamark was then sponged through the leaf stencil and heat embossed with pearl powder. Distress Ink was then blended over the top, the embossed areas repelling the colour. A ribbon band was drawn on with pen. This was then mounted onto and 8 X 8 card. Faux stitching was added around the edges using a piercing tool and drawing with a fine tipped black pen. PVA pearls were then added to the corners.
2. The lacy border and sentiment were stamped with Versafine onto the decorative floral paper, then mounted onto black card to frame. I had a spare scrap of this paper from another project so cut out the daisy and shaped it to add dimension and decoupaged it up onto the background.
3. The beetle stamp was coated with StazOn Ink, then a thin layer of Relief Paste and left to dry overnight before peeling away. It was then trimmed to neaten up and glued to the card.

Splendid Hat Steampunk card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. This was one of my recent samples for the Steampunk themed shows on Hochanda with Chocolate Baroque.

Materials:

• Steampunkery, Steampunk Travel, Punky Expressions stamp sets
• 6 X 6inch card blank, decorative background paper from Crafty Individuals (A Weekend in Seville Book), Kraft card
• Coloured pencils (browns. Blues, white) and Sansador blending solution
• Inkpads: Versafine (Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia), Memento (Tuxedo Black), StazOn (Jet Black), Versamark
• Embossing powder (Tim Holtz Antiquities Rust)
• Soft Form Relief Paste (Copper)
• PVA pearls (black)
• Dies to cut tag (Trimcraft?), small sentiment plate (Heartfelt Creations) and cogs (Tim Holtz Sizzix BigZ)

How it was made:

1. A thin layer of copper paste was spread onto the small hat and key stamps and left to fully dry before gently peeling away. This can take up to 2 days so you need to plan ahead. StazOn Ink was then applied to the stamps and the moulded pieces pressed back on to transfer the ink into the crevices.
2. The sentiments were stamped onto Kraft card with Versafine (Black Onyx) and were cut out with dies. Cogs were also cut from Kraft card.
3. The background was stamped with Versafine (Vintage Sepia). The edges of the decorative panel, sentiment panels and cogs were coated with Versamark and heat embossed with rust powder.
4. The large hat was stamped onto Kraft card with Memento, cut out and coloured with pencils. Note: I used Memento as I blended the pencil colouring with Sansador solvent (Versafine would bleed with solvent).
5. Elements were stuck to the card front with 3D glue gel for added dimension. Finished with a few PVA pearls.

Airship Pirate Steampunk card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. Today I am sharing one of my recent samples created for the Steampunk shows recently on Hochanda. I used a few of my dies to create this nautical themed card. I hope that you like it.

Materials:

• Steampunkery and Punky Expressions stamp sets
• 8 X 8 inch white card blank; white, blue and brown kraft card; recycled acetate from packaging
• Versamark and Distress Ink (Vintage Photo)
• WOW embossing powders (white plus mix of Copper and Gold Rich)
• Koh-I-Noor Charcoals (White)
• Sakura Glitter and Glaze Pens (red)
• Dies to cut a circle frame (approx. 16cm diameter – TODO), steampunk cogs (Tattered Lace, Trimcraft) and nautical themed embellishments (Couture Creations)

How it was made:

1. I trimmed the blue card to fit the card front and leave a small white border. The sentiment and airship were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with the white powder.
2. The circle porthole frame was cut from Kraft card. A piece of acetate was cut to fit behind.
3. The cogs and wheel were cut from Kraft card and coloured with gold embossing powder or red glaze pen. The gulls were cut from white card.
4. The scene was built up and coloured using the white charcoals. A little red glitter pen was added to the boat and a small die cut gull stuck down. The frame was glued over the top using 3D shaker foam. Note: you could add some sprinkles or glitter for added fun.
5. The scroll was created from a rectangle, rolling the ends around a paint brush to curl. A little Distress Ink was added to the edges to age. The die cut embellishments were used to decorate.

Steampunk Travels Pop Up Box created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. I had so much fun creating a fantasy world with the Steampunk themed stamps recently featured on Hochanda. Today I am sharing one of my show samples. I just love this sentiment verse and the fun sentiments that come with these stamp sets.

Materials:

• Steampunk Travel and Steampunkery stamp sets (also available as a multibuy)
• Ready made white pop up card blank (approx. 7cm wide box with back panel approx. 16cm high), white stamping card, Kraft card
• Inkpads: Dye based ink (brown) and Versamark
• Ink sprays with mica (blue and gold)
• Alcohol ink pens and coloured pencils (blue, orange, yellow)
• Fine tipped pen (brown)
• WOW heat embossing powders (mix of Verdigris and Gold)
• Dies to cut steampunk cogs and shaped mat for verse

How it was made:

1. The box was spritzed with inks to add colour and edged with brown ink.
2. The images were stamped with brown ink and coloured with alcohol pens and some pencil shading.
3. The verse was cut out with a die and edged with brown ink and faux stitching. The remaining sentiments were hand cut and edged with brown ink. The Steampunk images were cut out by hand.
4. The cogs were cut from Kraft card, coated in Versamark and heat embossed with metallic powders.
5. The images, cogs and sentiments were glued to the card layers to give depth. Thin card strips were glued behind some of the elements to add extra support where needed.
